NBTV Convention Saturday 19th April 2008 Loughborough

Map of England

Once again it's that time of year for the NBTV Convention. As in previous years the venue will be Loughborough Universities department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering. This year we intend to make the event better than previous conventions.

Members exhibits as well as the Club Shop will be there as well as a chance for new members to meet veterans of the hobby. To help our younger and non-waged members visitors are encouraged to clear out their abandoned projects and equipment for our 'free to a good home' table. Any good quality components are always welcome for this stall.

The convention starts at 10:00 and we must vacate the building promptly by 17:00. If you are one of the new members who recently joined the club this may be the first chance to visit a 'Convention' as our annual meetings are traditionally called. If you want to acquire basic knowledge of NBTV techniques, this is more easily achieved in a few hours at the Convention than reading back issues of the Newsletter.

As usual, the Convention will start with a display of working apparatus, literature , antiquities, etc and will finish with a conference to record the Associations progress and make plans for the future. Please bring something to exhibit if you can, even if it has been shown before. There are always first-time visitors at every conference who will be suitably impressed.

Directions to the Convention venue

Loughborough is easily assessable from the M1 motorway, East midlands Airport and has excellent road and rail links from most regions. We recommend entering the university to the west of the campus as this is easier. The venue is the 'cyber cafe' within the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering. Signs will be placed at strategic points on the day to guide visitors to the convention.

They will issue a permit for entry onto the campus and a barrier pass (retain this for when you leave). Drive onto the campus, pass under the building (please mind the humps, they are in the dark).

The taxi office is located just outside the main arrival hall at the airport, should no taxis be there, there is an indoor reception area for you to wait.
